A Tasting with Alessia Antinori of Marchesi Antinori with Sommeliers Larry Stone and Mark Bright.
The Antinori Family has been involved in the production of wine for over six centuries since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered as a member of the “Arte Fiorentina”, the Winemakers’ Guild of the City of Florence. During this entire period of 26 generations, the family has always directly managed this production with courageous and, at times, innovative decisions, but always maintaining, unaltered, a fundamental respect for tradition and for the territory in which they have operated. The legacy of these 26 generations have been carried on by Piero Antinori and now his three daughters Allegra, Albiera, and Alessia. Alessia Antinori joins us for a legendary tasting of eight vintages of Solaia. From the sunniest part of the Tignanello Hill and from the best grapes grown in their best vineyard, Solaia is a wine of passion, care, attention and research. From its first vintage in 1978, Solaia has been a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals such as Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. The wine is only produced in the highest quality vintages. Talented sommelier and winemaker Larry Stone of Lingua Franca and Mark Bright, wine director and Partner of Michelin 3-star Saison in San Francisco moderate this panel tasting. Wines to be tasted will include: 2013, 2009, 2006, 2004, 1999, 1998, and 1997 in magnum from the Family’s private cellar in Italy.
*All wines for each GourmetFest tasting come directly from the wine estate’s cellars
